Death Notice – Captain Christopher Mordaunt, 9L

 It is with regret that I inform you of the death of Captain Christopher Mordaunt on 24th January 2017 aged 82. Christopher was commissioned in to the 9th Queen’s Royal Lancers on 5th December 1953.

There will be a private family funeral followed by a Service of Thanksgiving at St Michael’s and All Angels Church, Lambourn, RG17 8PA at 2 p.m. on Thursday 9th February. If attending, it will assist the family if you notify Home Headquarters.

Death Notice – Cpl JB ‘Barry’ Ledgar 16/5L 1962-1968


It is with regret that I have to inform you of the death of Barry Ledgar on Sunday 8th January 2017.                        

Barry’s funeral service will be held on Friday 3rd February at Christ Church, Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 3AJ at 11am followed on at Carmountside Crematorium, Leek Road, Stoke-on-Trent, ST2 7AB at 12.15pm.

I have arranged to send a wreath on behalf of The Royal Lancers Regimental Association.

The family have requested that donations may be made in Barry’s memory to the British Heart Foundation through the funeral directors.

Death Notice – Major Donald Mantell – 1948 – 1969 – 16/5L

It is with great regret that I inform you of the death of Major Donald Richard Mantell on 14th January aged 93. He was commissioned into the East Riding Yeomanry in Sept 1943 and transferred to 16th/5th Lancers in March 1948 and retired in 1969.

Following a private family funeral in the morning a Thanksgiving Service will take place on Monday 13th February at 2pm at St Peter’s Church, The Square, Petersfield, Hampshire GU32 3HS.
