WHAT IS VIRTUAL LANCER (vLANCER)?

The Virtual Lancer (vLancer) mission is to enable all Lancers to have a single, reliable tool to connect, engage, support and be supported by a safe and trusted community throughout the transition from serving our country to joining the civilian community. Our goal is to eradicate all suicide from the Armed Forces community.

WHAT ARE VIRTUAL TROOPS AND HOW DOES VIRTUAL LANCER FIT IN?

We believe that our shared experience is a powerful bond that can help us overcome any challenge.

Virtual Troops (vTroops) are our way of cementing that bond whether you are serving, recently left or long retired – keeping those bonds alive between the serving Regiment, veteran Lancers and Old Comrades. vTroops are self-generated, self-sustaining groups of like-minded folk who want to chat and get together because we have a shared interest or experience. vTroops exist today and we want to make people more aware of the community, what is going on and how to get involved.

Virtual Lancer (vLancer) is our hub to stay connected to, and reconnect with, Regimental friends across these vTroops, and sustain those long-term friendships built through shared service, figure out what is next in our careers, deal with the everyday challenges of life, organise and attend events, and support each other whenever needed.

VLANCER IS BY LANCERS, FOR LANCERS. THERE IS MORE TO COME, AND VLANCER WILL EVOLVE AS THE LANCER COMMUNITY WANTS IT TO:

IT IS HERE TO SERVE YOU.

WHAT DOES OUR vLANCER APP DO?

Whether you are currently serving, a service leaver, have recently left or left some time ago, vLancer has been designed with you in mind. You can use it to:

  • 1

CONNECT TO CURRENT AND FORMER COMRADES

Share your contact details if you wish and build your Lancer network.

  • 2

FIND AND JOIN GROUPS OF FELLOW LANCERS

There are Lancer groups on many different social media platforms, engaging on many different subjects. We call these self-organised groups virtual Troops, or vTroops. They are simply collections of like-minded Lancers who share an interest and look out for each other.

vLancer is a hub for these groups; if you want to create a vTroop you can list it on vLancer for others to join.

  • 3

ORGANISE AND PUBLICISE GET TOGETHERS AND EVENTS

Use the Events page to find out what’s going on, sign up and attend with other Lancers. Or create your own events and advertise them to the Lancer community.

  • 4

VOLUNTEER AS, OR FIND, A GURU

We have created the Guru system so that you can connect with someone who is willing to informally share their experiences with a fellow Lancer. This could be on any topic from finding work or moving to a new area. You may have questions about your career or finding a job that another Lancer can help you with. The network is here for you. There is also a formal buddy scheme for those leaving the Regiment to help you transition into Civvy Street. You can find more information on this here.

  • 5

FIND OUT ABOUT CAREERS, FINANCES, PLACES TO LIVE AND OTHER LIFE ADMIN

vLancer has included articles and guides designed to help with your transition from the military. Find professional help from government organisations to Lancer-run businesses. vLancer can signpost you to organisations that can help you, even if you aren’t sure what sort of help you need.

  • 6

    STAY FIT AND HEALTHY

We believe that our network is a powerful tool that can help keep us fit and healthy, motivate us and support us when we need it most. Find information and signposting to people who can help with maintaining your own Health and Wellness.

  • 7

USE OUR CHECKLISTS FOR BIG EVENTS

Find useful checklists or Tactical Aide Memoire (TAM) that provide you with useful guides on how to do things like find a job, move to a new area, or buy a home. This is especially useful for service leavers.
