THE REGIMENTAL ASSOCIATION

WHAT IS THE REGIMENTAL ASSOCIATION?
The Regimental Association oversees all veteran Lancer activities and groups and, through the Colonel of the Regiment, works closely with the Commanding Officer of the Serving Regiment, the Trustees and the regimental museums team. Its purpose is to maintain and protect the histories and traditions of all Lancer Regiments and foster esprit de corps (pride and mutual loyalty); to help maintain contact between members and their dependents, including socially, through the Old Comrades’ Association (OCA); and to consider requests for funding and benevolence.
WHAT IS HHQ?
The communication and activities of the Regimental Association are co-ordinated from Home Headquarters (HHQ) –they act like an Adjutant’s office. They do everything from organising attendance at national and regimental events, helping veterans who are having a tough time find support for physical or mental health issues and administering requests for benevolence, through to buying new sports kit for serving soldiers and keeping in touch with Lancers through social media, the Regimental website, Journals and newsletters.

WHAT IS THE OCA?
Socially, we are also proud to have our Old Comrades’ Association (OCA). The OCA has been providing a space for Lancers to meet and reminisce since the end of the First World War. They organise the more informal get-togethers and these services can be accessed through Branches across the Country.
WHAT IS THE CHARITABLE TRUST?
All of the funds we generate, as well as the 200 Club Lottery, go into our Charitable Trust and are used to support the serving Regiment, uphold our heritage and care for our veteran community. A small amount is used for admin, but none goes on subsidising food or drink – it is all spent wisely, funding everything from wheelchairs to funeral wreathes. HHQ make recommendations to the Charitable Trust and administer charitable giving.
